Director of Youth Ministries

Winter Park Presbyterian Church is seeking a Director of Youth Ministries to energize our ministry to the youth of our community.  It is our purpose, acting as disciples of Christ, to develop and maintain an active ministry to youth (grades 6-12) and their families, emphasizing spiritual growth, education, outreach, worship, support and service while developing personal relationships with God. Our church is located in the community of Winter Park, a suburb of Orlando, Florida.  We are a church with an average attendance of approximately 300 persons each week and are located less than a mile from Winter Park High School.  We are willing to negotiate salary and work hours up to 30 hours per week with an appropriate benefits package for the person who can meet our needs. The start date is negotiable, but it is our intent to have a leader in place before the start of school in August.  This is a non-ordained position.

Qualifications:

1.      A mature faith in Jesus Christ and a commitment to personal discipleship and the ministry of WPPC.

2.       Bachelors Degree in Education (or equivalent) or at least five (5) years related work experience in youth ministry
for grades 6 - 12.

3.       Strong oral and written communication skills and a commitment to using them.

4.       Administrative, planning and organizational skills (including conflict resolution) and a commitment to using them.

5.       Knowledge of the Bible, Reformed Tradition, and the polity of the PCUSA.

6.       The ability to equip, inspire, and encourage people to develop their spiritual gifts and dedicate them to the work of Jesus Christ.

7.       Personal integrity, kindness, honesty, humility, and a good sense of humor.

Desired Training:  Additional youth ministry training from PCUSA or equivalent sources is desired.

Responsibilities:

The Director of Youth Ministries will be responsible for youth participation, contact work, volunteer leader development, event planning, overseeing the work of the youth ministry team, involvement of youth in worship, coordination with other members of the church staff, follow-up with visitors, troubleshooting problems within the youth ministry, needs of the ministry, development of his or her own personal discipleship and  leadership and for other duties as may be assigned by the Director of Christian Education and/or the Senior Pastor.
